Last week, the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator took part in the EU-LAC Digital Alliance High-Level Dialogues, organised under the European Commission’s Global Gateway initiative. The event was hosted in the inspiring setting of the AECID Training Centre in Antigua, Guatemala, bringing together policymakers, business leaders and innovation actors from both regions.
Representing the accelerator, Maika Gorostidi, Director of EU-LAC Digital Accelerator, shared the programme’s value proposition and the results achieved so far: more than 1,700 registered startups and 320 corporates, over 400 digital challenges identified, and it is expected that by the end of the year, more than 55 between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean will be achieved.
The panel also featured success stories supported by the accelerator:
- The collaboration between Emporium Partners (Germany) and Siembras de Origen (Colombia), who jointly adapted a technology to create a directory of certified technicians and a knowledge management tool.
- The experience of the Mining Innovation Hub of Peru, which highlighted the benefits of connecting European and Latin American challenges and solutions and the continuous support of the accelerator.
This participation reinforced the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator’s mission: connect regions, foster open innovation and accelerate cross-Atlantic business partnerships, generating impact in areas such as bioeconomy, sustainable mining, and digital transformation.
