On 21 May 2026, Caribbean Export Development Agency and the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator hosted the webinar “How corporates want to co-create with Caribbean startups & SMEs in the age of AI”, focused on how regional innovators can build stronger partnerships with corporates through open innovation.
The session challenged a common misconception in corporate venturing: simply replicating existing products rarely solves the specific operational problems corporates face, whereas co-created solutions tailored to local realities are far more likely to gain traction.
Speakers from UVI Research and Technology Park, Maestro AI Labs, and Dingole explained how startups and SMEs can use Artificial Intelligence to identify problems, test assumptions, refine concepts, and position themselves as credible co-development partners before investing heavily in product development.
The discussion also highlighted practical pathways for Caribbean firms to engage with corporates through pilots, innovation challenges, and structured collaboration frameworks supported by programmes such as the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator.
