From paperwork to process power

For decades, the global fresh fruit trade has run on a delicate balance of perfect timing, precise logistics, and meticulous paperwork.

At Geofrut, a leading Chilean fruit exporter sending over 6 million boxes of grapes, cherries, and blueberries to the four corners of the world every year.

Until recently, managing this monstrous flood of export orders and client communications was a manual, time-intensive process prone to human error.

Logistics teams spent hours cross-referencing PDFs, spreadsheets, and ERP systems to track order status, leaving less time for strategic work and creating friction in a fast-moving market.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Spanish startup TribuCorp is developing smart digital assistants designed to understand complex business queries and automate routine tasks.

They saw the potential for transformative impact in traditional sectors like agriculture. However, they needed a real-world, large-scale partner to validate their technology.

Brought together by the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator, these two companies have formed a strategic partnership to build and deploy an AI-powered Order Assistant. Their goal is clear: to revolutionise how agricultural exporters manage one of their most critical and cumbersome operational processes.

The challenge: manual bottlenecks in a digital age

Geofrut’s digital transformation team, led by Digital Transformation and Innovation Manager Cristian Farias, identified order management as a key pain point.

Geofrut had tried standard digital tools, but these were little more than electronic filing cabinets. They lacked intelligence, integration, and the ability to learn. The company needed a solution that could understand natural language, fetch data in real-time, and provide insights, not just records.

The partnership: a fusion of sector expertise and AI ingenuity

The EU-LAC Digital Accelerator connected Geofrut with Tribucorp, recognising the perfect match between a corporate with a concrete operational challenge and a startup with a technical solution.

The collaboration is structured around a focused, six-month acceleration programme supported by the EU-LAC consortium partners. Octantis is providing methodology and hands-on support to define the project roadmap and rigorously evaluate the Proof of Concept (PoC). EBAN will prepare Tribucorp for future investment, ensuring the solution is built not just for Geofrut but for scalable commercialisation.

The solution: an intelligent interface for operational teams

The core of the partnership is the development of an AI Order Assistant based on a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture. This isn’t just a chatbot, it’s an integrated system that:

  • Understands natural language: allows staff to ask complex questions like “Show me all orders for blueberries delayed at the port of Rotterdam this week” in plain English or Spanish.
  • Integrates with core systems: connects directly to Geofrut’s ERP and internal databases to pull live, accurate information.
  • Generates reports & insights: automatically compiles status updates and highlights discrepancies or suggests actions.
  • Learns and adapts: the more it is used, the better it understands company-specific terminology and user needs.

The PoC, currently underway, is validating these capabilities in a controlled environment using anonymised real data from Geofrut’s operations.

The expected impact: measurable gains in efficiency and accuracy

The partnership has set ambitious, quantifiable targets for the solution’s impact on Geofrut’s operations:

✅ Reduce order processing time by 70%
✅ Cut manual errors by 90%
✅ Handle 3 times more order volume per week

The Geofrut-Tribucorp partnership exemplifies the mission of the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator: fostering cross-continental collaboration that delivers tangible innovation. In this case, it brings European AI expertise to address a critical challenge in a Latin American industry. It provides the startup with a path to scale and the corporation with a leap in efficiency.

By combining Geofrut’s deep agricultural knowledge with Tribucorp’s technical prowess within a structured acceleration framework, this partnership is not just optimising order management, it’s planting the seeds for a more intelligent, efficient, and connected future for agricultural exports.
