On 17 September 2026, the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator ran a practical workshop for Uruguayan startups, scaleups and small and medium-sized businesses at the Parque Tecnológico Canario in Las Piedras.
It was co-hosted with UTEC Global, from the Universidad Tecnológica del Uruguay, and the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies.
The session was set up to help companies prepare for the programme’s next open call. It centred on internationalisation, open innovation and collaboration with corporates.
Behind it sat one question: how innovative companies from Latin America and the Caribbean can build working partnerships with European corporates.
Federico Kramer, Open Innovation Consultant at the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator from partner organisation Octantis, led the session.
The workshop covered:
- The opportunities the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator offers
- The different routes into the programme
- How to turn a corporate challenge into a collaboration with a startup
- Experiences and lessons from companies that have already been through the process
- Tools to prepare for internationalisation and entry into new markets
There are two routes into the programme:
- A corporate and a startup that already work together can apply as a partnership through an open call.
- Alternatively, a corporate can publish a challenge on the Matching Platform, and the programme scouts and shortlists startups to meet it.
Open call #6 of the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator opened on 21 September and closes on 30 November 2026.
It is open to corporates and startups that already work together as partners.
