On Thursday 24 September 2026, Misión 3, the entrepreneurship and innovation centre of Universidad César Vallejo, hosted the Open Innovation Roadshow Perú 2026 in Lima.
It took place at the Sociedad Nacional de Industrias convention centre and brought together companies, universities, public agencies and innovation organisations to discuss how academic knowledge can answer real business challenges.
Misión 3 is a member of the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator’s network of accelerators. Together with Wayra, one of the partners behind the accelerator, it presented that network as a bridge between Peru, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.
Among the speakers:
- Javier Salinas Malaspina, Director of Misión 3, defined open innovation as organisations recognising they need the entrepreneurial ecosystem to solve their business challenges.
- Lorena Becerra, of Wayra, one of the partners behind the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator, presented the accelerator as a bridge for innovation between Peru, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.
- Karen Montjoy Huamán, member of the Executive Committee of the Sociedad Nacional de Industrias, said academia and industry often listen to each other without managing to work together, and called for closer coordination.
- Sergio Rodríguez, Executive Director of ProInnóvate, contrasted the market pace of companies with the slower rhythm of academia, and pointed to university incubators and accelerators as the link between the two.
- Luis Carlos Sánchez, a specialist in innovation and science, technology and innovation policy, argued that technology should serve goals beyond profit, such as better health, education and job opportunities.
Every contribution returned to the same challenge: connecting knowledge and talent with the needs of industry. One answer put forward was intermediaries, such as university incubators and accelerators, that turn a first contact into a joint project.
Open call 6 of the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator runs from 21 September to 30 November 2026 and is open to corporate and startup partners who are already working together.
