On September 20th and 21st, the Collaborate Malaga 23 event took place in Spain, bringing together industrial corporates and the technology services sector. The event was organised by Atlas Tecnológico and held at the Andalusia Technology Park and FYCMA (Trade Fairs and Congress Center of Málaga). The EU-LAC Digital Accelerator presentation was featured on the event’s second day, alongside keynotes, conversations, networking opportunities and 19 other innovative technological projects.
Sergio Bandinelli, our Project Coordinator from Tecnalia Ventures, was a key contributor to the discussion of deep tech entrepreneurship at the event. Specifically, he participated in a panel titled “Creating Digital Ecosystems (Startup-Venture Capital) Between Europe and Latin America” to showcase our initiative and enhance the Collaborate Reset the Economy program as a gateway to science and technology-based entrepreneurship.
During his intervention, Bandonelli expressed that collaboration between corporates and startups allows for sharing risk and moving forward faster. He also stated that the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator is an effective channel to do so because risk is intrinsic to innovation.
The event provided us with an opportunity to visit various corporate entities, including Grupo Premo, TROPS, LDA Audio Tech, Mayoral Portugal, S.A., TDK, DEKRA, Grupo Ubago, and DENSO TEN ESPAÑA, S.A. In addition to exploring synergies with them, we had exchanged with keynote speakers from Ford Europe, Zeeleros Hiperloop, Esade Business School, TST Sistemas, EIT Culture & Creativity Southwest, Conexo Ventures and the Fundación Caja Rural de Asturias.
The EU-LAC Digital Accelerator team will continue to spread the word about how we build bridges to accelerate digital transformation in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to connect business opportunities from large corporates to startups and innovative SMEs, supporting these joint ventures until an investment-ready stage and providing specific benefits for each.
