Peru is one of the most mineral-rich nations in the world, leading in the production of copper, gold, silver, and zinc, among others. The mining industry is crucial to Peru’s economic growth and is a centre of innovation and competitiveness. At the forefront of this progress is the Hub Innovación Minera del Perú, an organisation dedicated to building the mining of the future through innovation and collaboration.
In the frame of our partnership with the Hub, we are organising two Q&A sessions sharing 15 corporate challenges fully available on our Matching Platform, representing 15 business opportunities for cutting-edge European startups!
Real-time solutions, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools are required to move the Peruvian industry forward. For this reason, we are calling European startups working in the mining industry to attend our sessions, discover the Peruvian challenges and generate new business opportunities!
Session 1 – Wednesday 18 September
Time: 9:00 am (Peru, GMT-5) / 16:00 pm (Brussels, GMT+2)
Welcome and Introduction of EU-LAC Digital Accelerator by Miguel Rodríguez, from Octantis |
Presentation of the Hub de Innovación Minera del Perú, by Angela Acosta, Project Executive. |
Presentation of the following challenges, by Angela Acosta:
Challenge 1: Monitoring real-time flow rates, discharges, and their impact. Challenge 2: Real-time monitoring of mobile equipment and personnel in underground mines using Leaky Feeders or lighting systems. Challenge 3: Detecting and preventing the advance of uncrushable in advance. Challenge 5: Improving reagent dosing through automatic dosing valves and density control chambers for monitoring thickening in grinding and regrinding processes. Challenge 6: Monitoring geomechanical failures remotely to prevent low-cost rockfall incidents inside mines. Challenge 7: Measuring real-time bathymetry variables in sectors with high runoff flows and water reservoirs to assess storage and sediment volume. Challenge 11: Enhancing preventive and predictive maintenance of mine air compressors using machine learning techniques. Challenge 13: Calculating contaminants in zinc refinery (roasting and purification) swiftly and cost-effectively. Challenge 15: Utilising core data from high tonnage mining truck combustion engines for proactive and predictive maintenance, encompassing models like the 793F, ultra class Komatsu 930, and various other brands |
