To foster growth in the space sector, Thales Alenia Space launched the Space Business Catalyst, an accelerator that fosters the growth of new markets and technologies. By providing startups with technical expertise, commercial guidance, and financial support, the Space Business Catalyst helps emerging companies take their innovations from concept to reality.
In partnership with the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator, the Space Business Catalyst is connecting with startups and digital solutions from Latin America and the Caribbean to further expand innovation in the space sector. For 2024, they are launching two key challenges—Innovative Space Technologies and Startups Using Space with Impact—on our matching platform, inviting creative solutions to address critical needs in the space industry.
Challenge 1: Innovative Space Technologies
Thales Alenia Space is seeking startups that can deliver groundbreaking technologies across any aspect of the space industry. This challenge is open to all Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), from early-stage concepts to fully developed market-ready solutions. The focus is on innovation, and there are no limitations on the types of technologies that can be proposed. Startups are invited to present their most creative solutions, with the potential to revolutionize various facets of the space sector.
Challenge 2: Startups Using Space with Impact
Thales Alenia Space is inviting startups that can harness space-related technologies to generate significant positive impacts on society, the environment, and the economy. The challenge is open to all Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), from early-stage ideas to fully developed, market-ready solutions. With no specific restrictions on the type of technology or the area of focus, the challenge encourages a broad range of innovations. Thales Alenia Space aims to create a diverse and dynamic ecosystem, ensuring a rich pipeline of ideas that can shape the future of space.

Match your digital solutions and apply for our Open Call #2 to gain our in-kind acceleration services valued at up to 30,000 euros for Latin American startups and 40,000 for Caribbean startups. You will implement a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) project with Thales to perform a preliminary test of your solution, service, or technology. The PoC will validate part of the functionality of your solution, service or technology or test the complete functionality on a reduced scale. It lasts less than four months, and a contract is signed to regulate the terms and conditions of the PoC and subsequent relations.
