Expanding logistics capabilities into pharmaceutical distribution

Moving temperature-sensitive medicines across international supply chains requires much more than transporting cargo safely from one destination to another.

Every shipment must remain within strict temperature ranges, comply with pharmaceutical distribution requirements and preserve product integrity throughout the journey.

For AssistCargo, an Argentine company specialising in logistics risk management and cargo security, real-time visibility and operational response are already part of its daily activity through its SIMON 4.0 platform, Control Tower and field services.

SIMON already provides alert triggers and notifications that allow AssistCargo teams to identify and manage logistics incidents.

The next step is to extend these capabilities to pharmaceutical distribution, where additional requirements for temperature control, traceability, and compliance become critical.

A two-way strategic partnership

To support this expansion, AssistCargo partnered with TrueCold, a Spanish startup specialising in AI-powered cold-chain technology and whose solution was recently recognised as Best Innovation in Pharma Distribution 2026.

TrueCold adds a specialised compliance and intelligence layer to AssistCargo’s existing operational infrastructure, enabling the partnership to move beyond alerting towards more proactive management of temperature-sensitive shipments.

Adding proactive intervention through specialised AI agents

TrueCold’s SaaS platform aggregates data from IoT sensors and tracking devices into a central dashboard, applies predictive thermal analytics and continuously monitors shipment conditions.

Its specialised AI agents complement AssistCargo’s existing alerts and notifications by helping operators anticipate risks and intervene proactively when temperature-related anomalies emerge.

Through the collaboration, both companies will integrate their platforms to create a seamless flow of operational and temperature data throughout pharmaceutical shipments.

The combined solution brings together:

    • AssistCargo’s SIMON 4.0 platform, Control Tower, operational management and existing alert capabilities.
    • TrueCold’s pharmaceutical compliance capabilities support temperature-sensitive distribution requirements.
    • Predictive thermal analytics identifies potential temperature anomalies before they become critical.
    • Specialised AI agents support proactive intervention and faster operational decision-making.
    • Bi-directional data exchange, allowing shipment and temperature intelligence to flow between both platforms.
    • Marketplace integration, making AssistCargo’s services available through the TrueCold Marketplace and supporting future commercial collaboration.

The strength of the partnership lies in this complementarity: AssistCargo brings the operational muscle, logistics management and market presence, while TrueCold contributes specialised compliance and technology capabilities.

The collaboration creates strategic value for both organisations.

For AssistCargo, the integration of TrueCold’s technology and compliance capabilities supports its ambition to expand into pharmaceutical distribution, enabling the company to complement its existing logistics and security services with the specialised capabilities required in this highly regulated market.

For TrueCold, partnering with AssistCargo provides an opportunity to launch operations in South America, supported by an experienced logistics partner with an established operational network.

The collaboration can also help TrueCold expand beyond pharmaceuticals into additional temperature-sensitive or controlled categories, including perishables, frozen food and tobacco.

The partnership therefore combines a technical integration with a broader commercial opportunity: AssistCargo gains a pathway into a new market segment, while TrueCold gains access to a new geography and new categories.

Three acceleration services to validate and scale the solution

Through the EU-LAC Digital Accelerator, the partnership benefits from three complementary acceleration services designed to validate the pilot and prepare the solution for commercial growth.

  • Service n°1: Roadmap, including support to design and evaluate a PoC

Led by EBAN, this service defines the overall pilot framework.

It establishes the project scope, objectives, KPIs, milestones and risk-mitigation plan while supporting both partners throughout the six-month acceleration programme to ensure measurable validation of the integrated solution. The PoC will test the bidirectional exchange of operational and temperature data between AssistCargo and TrueCold and validate the combined workflow in simulated and live temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments.

We need a structured PoC to connect AssistCargo's logistics data with TrueCold's temperature intelligence solution and test the combined solution in a live pharmaceutical shipment across the Atlantic. The EU-LAC roadmap, bootcamp, and scaling support will help us validate the workflow, define the right KPIs and test the solution of TrueCold prior to a possible wider deployment in Latin America.

  • Service n°2: Scaling of Solution

Led by Wayra, this service evaluates the pathway towards commercial deployment.

The partners analyse technical, operational, geographical and financial barriers while developing a scalability strategy that supports AssistCargo’s expansion into pharmaceutical distribution and TrueCold’s entry into Latin America and new cold-chain categories.

  • Service n°3: Ask the Angel

Led by EBAN, this service helps TrueCold strengthen its investment readiness.

The startup receives expert feedback on its business model and commercial strategy from at least five investors and advisors, which will support future fundraising and market expansion following the pilot.

  • Achieve fully operational bi-directional data exchange with TrueCold.
  • Process more than 95% of exchanged messages successfully.
  • Generate temperature alerts in under 10 minutes.
  • Validate the solution through 2–3 simulated shipments and 3 live temperature-controlled shipments.
  • Use the pilot results and scalability roadmap to prepare for broader deployment across Latin America.
  • Validate platform integration with AssistCargo’s logistics workflows during the six-month PoC.
  • Launch the AssistCargo integration through the TrueCold Marketplace.
  • Gather investor feedback to strengthen commercial readiness.
  • Prepare the solution for international scaling.
  • Contribute to a long-term objective of reducing preventable temperature-related cargo losses by at least 30% within the first 24 months of deployment.

Together, AssistCargo and TrueCold are demonstrating how combining operational expertise, compliance capabilities and specialised AI technology can create new opportunities across temperature-sensitive logistics.

The PoC will let us validate a bi-directional data exchange between TrueCold and AssistCargo and test smart alerts in a live temperature-controlled shipment. We particularly value the support to define the roadmap, assess scalability and obtain investor feedback before a broader market rollout.
