50 Doctors faces an operational challenge at the very beginning of emergency care: quickly and accurately identifying patients during triage.

Triage is the first step where hospital staff quickly assess the seriousness of patients’ conditions and decide how urgently they need treatment. 

In practice, emergency teams often need to register patients in stressful situations where people may arrive unconscious, injured, unable to communicate properly, or without identification documents.

The risks:

• Delays in accessing medical history.

Heuristik is a Spanish HealthTech startup that builds software to identify patients using fingerprint recognition combined with AI matching.

It is designed specifically for emergency and hospital environments to know exactly who the patient is before treatment starts.

The system offers nothing less than a sub-60-second workflow:

1. A patient places a finger on a scanner at admission.
2. The system reads the fingerprint, even if it is wet, dirty, or damaged.
3. AI matches the fingerprint to an existing patient record or creates a new one instantly.
4. The correct medical history is linked to the patient without manual search or paperwork.

This removes the need to rely on ID cards, verbal information, or manual data entry, which are often missing or unreliable in emergency situations.

For 50 Doctors, the system changes daily emergency operations in concrete ways:
